Peoples' Education Society’s English Medium High School and Junior College is one of the well reputed institutions in Thane (E) which cater to the needs of the students in attaining education from High School till Junior College. It came into inception in the year 1985 with a modest beginning by providing education till Std. VIII level with a strength of 36 students. Within a short span of time, it flourished and developed into a full fledged institution.
Our objective : This edifice was established as a result of deep conviction to build up competent, energetic and cultured citizens of Thane and eventually of the nation. ‘The river of knowledge must flow to every child.’ Continuous evolution of knowledge is considered as the inclusive symbol of strength of the 21st century ,for this being long cherished dream of the People’s Education Society. This school and junior college is an institution, which preserves and infuses the ethics, principles and the message of ‘Life is Work’ in the minds of the students apart from imparting quality education in its letter and spirit.
Unique Start : The High School and Junior College has completed a successful voyage of 38 and 20 years respectively. Devouring the pursuit of Man Making and Nation Building with doctors, engineers, teachers, armed service men, bankers, businessmen marching out from our institution.
Brief History : P.E. Society which was established on 1st April 1936, to take charge of New English School which started in Thane on 15th June, 1926 by late Shri. V.N.Bhole. Understanding the need of society impart education through the medium of English in the cultural city like Thane was the task taken up by People’s Education Society.
This challenge was entrusted on the strong shoulders of Mrs. Vidya Barve, who was promoted from Primary Section to become the Principal of P.E.S.English Medium High School. Year 1988 goes down in the History of P.E.S. English Medium High School as its first batch appeared for S.S.C.Board Examination and brought laurels to the school by achieving 100% result.
In the year 1989 Mrs. Vidya Barve received a Running Shield from Zilla Parishad, Thane for excellent result in S.S.C. Board examination and for her unspeccable administration.
Historic Moments :
- Year 1994, School shifted to Thane (e), the edifice was inaugurated by Mrs. Kumud Bansal, the then secretary of the Education Department of Maharashtra State.
- Year 1993, Mst. Sahil Walke stood second in the SSC Board Examination.
- Year 1995, Std IX students conducted a survey in slum area for their project 'Hygiene and Sanitation' was selected at the National Level.
- Year 2002, Ms. Smruti Kamble stood 14th in the general merit list of SSC Board Examination, and third in the Mumbai Division and First in Thane in the Specific Category.
- Year 2003, the school extended its branch of Junior College.
- Year 2005, Junior College first batch appeared for HSC Board examination giving 100%.
The Management and the dedicated Staff strive continuously to ensure that each and every student under their care is groomed to achieve academic excellence through innovative student-centric teaching-learning methods. ‘Soft Skills’ and ‘Life Skills’ Training Programmes conducted by the School and college ensure students are well equipped to face global competencies. With a plethora of enrichment activities, are groomed not only to be successful leaders in their fields but also conscientious citizens who would contribute towards the development of their neighbourhood, society and the nation at large.
